Vows & Readings
The heart of every wedding is the ceremony, each one unique and open to imagination, creativity and tradition. Whether you’re planning a civil, religious or symbolic ceremony, we can assist in personalising the event with vows and special poems.
Paperwork
Specific paperwork is required for civil and religious weddings in Italy, and requirements may vary on a case by case basis. Our coordinators have extensive experience with all the legal requirements needed to perform a ceremony that will be legally recognised in both Italy and your home country.
Civil Ceremony
There are many locations in Italy where you can plan a legally binding wedding ceremony, from the most famous city halls to charming villas, medieval castles, historical Palazzos and panoramic terraces overlooking a lake or the sea. These are spread out all over the country, and will offer the perfect setting for a civil ceremony. Venues are endless and will satisfy every taste.
Civil ceremonies are officiated by an Italian authority and are legally recognised in your country. It’s performed in Italian by the Mayor or civil registrar, with an official interpreter. The ceremony consists in a mix between the articles of the Italian civil code and traditional marriage vows and it lasts about twenty minutes.
Outdoor civil ceremonies can be performed only in certain locations approved by the Italian authorities under special circumstances. Ceremonies in Italy can be personalised with elements that express your personality and values: music, readings, poetry and personal vows.
Catholic Ceremony
Some of the most beautiful and ancient churches of the world can be found in Italy therefore, should you choose to have a catholic wedding ceremony in Italy, this will be performed in a beautiful church near your selected venue.
In Italy, the Catholic marriage rite is valid to full legal effect. Therefore, your Catholic wedding ceremony will be valid both in Italy and abroad. If you have already been married in a civil ceremony, we can organise a Catholic ceremony without civil effect, on provision of the requisite documentation.
Paperwork has to be issued within 6 months of the proposed wedding date, but not before otherwise it will expire, and religious paperwork needs to be received by the Italian Curia at least two months prior the wedding.
Depending on the church location, you might be asked to have the civil ceremony before arriving in Italy. Mixed religion weddings are allowed only if approved by your Parish Bishop. Ceremonies can be celebrated in English or Italian (with interpreter).
Symbolic Ceremony
The symbolic wedding ceremony is the right choice for those couples who prefer not to worry about completing documents for a civil or religious ceremony, or are already legally married. This type of wedding is not legally binding and spouses have the freedom to personalise the ceremony in such a way that it reflects completely their values and beliefs.
The content of a commitment wedding ceremony will vary from couple to couple, and is always tailored to the needs of each individual couple. The ceremony can be performed by a pastor, an Italian officer or a family member, and you can include personal vows, favourite songs, poetry, religious elements or pagan rituals.
In addition to the above, symbolic or nondenominational ceremonies can be performed in the most spectacular settings such as a medieval courtyard, a beautiful Norman tower or a romantic Italian garden.
Ravello
A true pearl of the Amalfi Coast, Ravello is a beautiful, reserved and secluded hilltop town gazing out over one of the most magnificent panoramas in Italy. Across the main piazza, the mystical and romantic Villa Rufolo with its immaculately kept gardens is a delight to wander around and absorb the calm and peaceful atmosphere.
Weddings in Ravello can be organised in exclusive luxury hotels or villas located in the heart of town. Couples from all over the world choose Ravello as their marriage destination because this town offers the best a couple can desire for their wedding: amazing venues for ceremony and reception, spectacular vistas, a warm climate, excellent wedding service providers, welcoming people and last but not least charming restaurants offering the most exquisite Mediterranean cuisine!
Amalfi
Amalfi is a historic and artistic treasure chest, giving its name to the whole coastal stretch from the Lattari Mountains to the Gulf of Salerno. The first of the four Maritime Republics, the Arsenal of the Republic are still visible, and just a few steps from Piazza Flavio Gioia you enter into the inner square of the Cathedral of St Andrew.
The historical procession in period clothing is characteristic and held during the days that evoke the Byzantine New Year that takes place between late August and early September.
Positano
For many years Positano has been considered as the main strength of the Amalfi coast, thanks to its unique scenery with vertiginous houses tumbling in a cascade design down to the sea.
Due to its urban framework, the town can only be explored on foot keeping a watchful eye on the architectural details and the craft workshops that will lead the visitor down to the ‘Marina Grande’ beach, through the Church of Assunta characterized by its blue and yellow maiolica tiled dome.
Sorrento
Sorrento is another very popular destination. According to legend, it’s the place where Ulysses was tempted by the song of the Sirens. Overlooking the bay of Naples, Sorrento dates back over 2,000 years, and although its origins are Roma, the town has many Greek influences.
You will find many beautiful and romantic wedding venues such as the Cloister of St Francis where Civil wedding ceremonies can be held.
